Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 7

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provisions, and accepted deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

This dua is excellent to recite after the obligatory prayers (Fardh Salah), as it was the practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It's also a beautiful supplication to make when you feel overwhelmed, stressed, or simply wish to align your life with what brings true contentment – knowledge that benefits, provision that is pure, and actions that are accepted by Allah. Think of it as a daily reset, asking Allah to bless your efforts and your life with what truly matters.

How to Read

Make this dua with sincerity and conviction, believing that Allah (SWT) is the ultimate source of all good. Raise your hands in supplication as you would during prayer, and face the Qiblah if possible. Focus on the meaning of each request: asking for knowledge that leads you closer to Allah, sustenance that is lawful and good, and deeds that are pleasing to Him. Reflect on how these three elements contribute to a truly peaceful and contented life.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive dua encapsulates the core elements of a life well-lived, leading to inner peace and contentment. 1. **Beneficial Knowledge ('Ilman Nafi'an):** Knowledge that guides you towards Allah, helps you understand His commands, and leads to righteous actions. This kind of knowledge frees the heart from ignorance and doubt, fostering certainty and peace. 2. **Pure Provisions (Rizqan Tayyiban):** Sustenance that is lawful (halal) and good (tayyib). When our provisions are pure, our hearts are at ease, free from the worry of unlawful gain and its consequences. Allah promises blessings in pure sustenance. 3. **Accepted Deeds ('Amalan Mutaqabbalan):** Actions performed sincerely for the sake of Allah and in accordance with His guidance, which are then accepted by Him. Knowing your deeds are accepted brings immense peace and hope, freeing you from seeking validation from creation. By asking for these three things, the Prophet ﷺ taught us a profound way to seek Allah's blessing for success that is not just worldly, but deeply spiritual and eternally rewarding.
