اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا.
O Allah, grant us rain; O Allah, grant us rain; O Allah, grant us rain.
Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna.
When to Read
This dua is specifically for seeking rain during times of drought or when the rain seems delayed beyond expectation. It's a sincere appeal to Allah when the community is in need of this vital blessing. Recite it with a heartfelt plea, especially during times of hardship or when observing signs of prolonged dryness.
How to Read
Raise your hands in supplication, mirroring the action of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ when he made dua for rain. Face the Qiblah if possible. Utter the words with sincerity and conviction, believing in Allah's power to send relief. It is also recommended to seek forgiveness (istighfar) and perform good deeds, as these can hasten Allah's response.
Virtues & Benefits
The primary benefit of this dua is seeking Allah's mercy and provision. When the earth is parched and life suffers, this supplication is a direct channel to the One who controls all sustenance. The repetition emphasizes the urgency and desperation of the need, reflecting the Prophet's ﷺ own practice and the importance of persistent dua. It also serves to remind us of our dependence on Allah for even the most basic necessities of life, fostering humility and gratitude.

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'The people of the desert asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) for rain, whereupon he prayed for rain. He prayed for rain to be sent down, but it rained no more than the eaves of the mosque. Then the next Friday, they asked him again, and he said: "O Allah, around us and not on us." Then it rained heavily for six days, and when the people came, he said: "Do you think it is because of the eaves of the mosque? It is nothing but Allah."' Sahih al-Bukhari 1014.
