اللَّهُمَّ صَيِّبًا نَافِعًا
O Allah, (make it) a beneficial rain.
Allahumma sayyiban nafi'a
When to Read
As rain begins to fall, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to make dua for it to be beneficial. This particular supplication is a sunnah to follow at that moment. More importantly, the time of rainfall itself is a blessed window when Allah is especially receptive to our prayers. It's an opportune time to make any sincere dua, pouring out your heart and asking for whatever you need, whether for this world or the Hereafter.
How to Read
When you notice the rain starting, recite 'Allahumma sayyiban nafi'a'. After this, you can raise your hands and make any personal duas with deep sincerity and conviction. Reflect on Allah's immense power and mercy as the rain descends, knowing that your heartfelt pleas are more likely to be heard and accepted during this precious time. Always remember to praise Allah first and send salutations upon the Prophet ﷺ before making your specific requests.
Virtues & Benefits
Making dua during rainfall carries immense benefit because it is explicitly mentioned as one of the times when duas are accepted. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'There are two (occasions) where a supplication is not rejected: when the call to prayer is made, and when the rain falls.' (Sahih al-Jami' 3078, graded Hasan by Al-Albani). This teaches us that Allah is particularly responsive during these moments, significantly increasing the likelihood of your prayers being answered and your righteous needs fulfilled. It truly is a window of divine mercy to seek forgiveness, guidance, and blessings from your Lord.
