Dua for Rain When Crops are Wilting

Rain
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 1025

اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا

O Allah, grant us rain! O Allah, grant us rain! O Allah, grant us rain!

Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna

When to Read

This supplication is made during times of drought, especially when crops are wilting and the land is parched. It's a direct call to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) for His mercy and provision when we are in dire need. Recite it with sincerity and urgency, remembering that all sustenance comes from Him.

How to Read

Raise your hands in supplication as the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to do when asking for rain. Repeat the phrase 'Allahumma aghithna' three times for emphasis, as demonstrated in the authentic hadith. Ensure you are in a state of ritual purity (wudu) if possible. Face the Qiblah (direction of prayer) and pour out your heart to Allah, acknowledging His power and our dependence on Him.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a direct act of seeking Allah's help in a critical situation. The repetition emphasizes our need and desperation, showing our reliance solely on our Creator. When Allah answers such a prayer, it is a profound manifestation of His mercy and His response to the needs of His creation, bringing life back to the land and relieving hardship.

Source & Authentication

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: When the drought was severe, 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) supplicated for rain, and they were granted rain. 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, 'I was about to ask for rain in the same way as the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked for rain.' I said, 'What was that?' He said: 'Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna ('O Allah, grant us rain! O Allah, grant us rain! O Allah, grant us rain!').'
