Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: 'During the lifetime of the Prophet (ﷺ), a drought once fell on them. While the Prophet (ﷺ) was delivering the Khutbah on Friday, he said: 'O people, seek forgiveness from your Lord and then turn to Him; He will send you abundant rain, and help you with wealth and children, and will provide you with rivers (gardens).' [Quran 11:52].' He then said: 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord, verily He is Ever Forgiving. He will send you the water in torrents.' (626) and (3764) and (5516) and (6575) and (7099) and (7100) and (7101) and (7102) and Muslim 877. He then supplicated: 'Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna.' (O Allah, grant us rain, grant us rain, grant us rain). Anas added: 'So the sky became cloudy and rained.'
