اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا
O Allah, grant us rain! O Allah, grant us rain! O Allah, grant us rain!
Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna
When to Read
This supplication is specifically for times of drought and need for rain, particularly when it impacts travel. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would supplicate for rain when he saw clouds or experienced dryness, and this hadith highlights the urgency and repetition suitable for such a plea. When the roads become difficult to navigate due to dry, dusty conditions, or when the lack of rain threatens journeys, making travel arduous or impossible, this dua is most fitting.
How to Read
This dua is simple and direct, a heartfelt plea to Allah. It's recommended to raise one's hands as the Prophet ﷺ did when supplicating for rain. The repetition emphasizes the sincerity and earnestness of the request. It should be recited with conviction, acknowledging Allah's power over all things and His mercy upon His creation. Performing *wudu* (ablution) and facing the *qiblah* (direction of prayer) can further enhance the spiritual connection during the supplication.
Virtues & Benefits
Seeking rain through dua is a practice rooted in the Sunnah, reflecting our dependence on Allah (Glory be to Him). It reminds us that He is the One who sends down sustenance and relief. This supplication, when made sincerely, can bring Allah's mercy, alleviating the hardship faced by travelers and the community. It fosters humility and reliance on the Creator, strengthening our faith. Furthermore, rain itself is a blessing that revitalizes the land and eases the lives of people and animals.

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: A man entered the Masjid (mosque) from the gate of the gate on a Friday. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was delivering the sermon, and he turned towards him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, the wealth has been destroyed and the families are in need; so pray to Allah for us to give us rain." So, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his hands and said: "O Allah, grant us rain, O Allah, grant us rain, O Allah, grant us rain." He said: "There was no cloud above us, then the clouds gathered and it rained, and the rain started flowing up to the Masjid. That was on Friday. The next Friday a man entered from the same gate and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was delivering the sermon, and he turned towards him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, the roads are blocked and the `Iyal (families and dependents) have perished." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his hands and said: "O Allah, round about us and not upon us, O Allah, upon the sand-hills and the mountains, the ravines and the places where herbs grow." He said: "So the rain stopped and we went out walking in the sun." Sahih al-Bukhari 1012
