اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا
"O Allah, grant us rain! O Allah, grant us rain! O Allah, grant us rain!"
Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna
When to Read
This dua is specifically recited when there is a need for rain, such as during a drought or when the land is parched. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would make this supplication during the Khutbah (Friday sermon) when seeking rain, as well as in times of need outside of the sermon.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a hopeful heart, raising your hands in supplication as the Prophet ﷺ often did. It is recommended to repeat the phrase 'Aghithna' (grant us rain) three times for emphasis. It's also fitting to reflect on Allah's power and mercy, acknowledging that rain is a blessing from Him and that we are in dire need of His provision.
Virtues & Benefits
Seeking rain through supplication is a manifestation of Tawakkul (reliance on Allah) and an acknowledgment of our dependence on His mercy. It is a practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, showing us the importance of turning to our Creator in times of need. Rain is a vital source of life, and asking Allah for it is asking for His sustenance and blessings upon the earth and its inhabitants.

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: A man entered the Masjid (mosque) on Friday through another door, while the Prophet (ﷺ) was delivering the Khutbah (Friday sermon). The man faced the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, the wealth has been destroyed and the paths (of communication) are cut off, so please ask Allah to send us rain." The Prophet (ﷺ) raised his hands and said: "O Allah, grant us rain! O Allah, grant us rain! O Allah, grant us rain!" (Sahih al-Bukhari 1014)
