اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا
O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain.
Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna
When to Read
This dua is recited when there is a need for rain, especially during times of drought or when rainfall is insufficient. It's also appropriate to make this dua during the Eid al-Adha prayer, as indicated by the practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
How to Read
This is a direct supplication to Allah. It's best recited with sincerity, raising your hands (as is the etiquette for supplication when seeking rain), facing the Qiblah if possible, and with a hopeful heart. Repeating the request three times, as the Prophet ﷺ did, emphasizes the earnestness of the need.
Virtues & Benefits
Seeking Allah's help for rain is a recognition of His power over all creation and our dependence on His sustenance. It reminds us that the balance of nature and the provision of essential resources like water are solely in His hands. This act of seeking relief from Allah fosters humility and strengthens our connection with Him, especially in times of hardship.

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: A man entered the Masjid (mosque) on a Friday and the Prophet (ﷺ) was delivering the Khutbah. The man said, 'O Allah's Messenger! Our wealth has been destroyed and our children are hungry. Please pray to Allah to give us rain.' So, the Prophet (ﷺ) raised his hands and said, 'O Allah! Grant us rain. O Allah! Grant us rain. O Allah! Grant us rain.' Sahih al-Bukhari 1014.
