Rain
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 1011

اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا

O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain.

Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna

When to Read

This supplication is specifically for times when rain is desperately needed, especially during a journey where lack of water can cause significant hardship. When the clouds gather but no rain falls, or when the earth is parched and your travel is impacted by drought, raising your hands with this sincere plea is a Sunnah.

How to Read

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would repeat this supplication three times when seeking rain. It's recommended to face the Qiblah, raise your hands, and make this dua with full conviction, acknowledging Allah's power over all things. Humility and sincerity are key when asking Allah for His mercy.

Virtues & Benefits

Seeking rain during times of need is a direct manifestation of reliance on Allah (Tawakkul). It reflects our understanding that all sustenance comes from Him. The Prophet's ﷺ repeated utterance emphasizes the urgency and importance of the request, showing us how to earnestly seek Allah's help in times of difficulty. Beneficial rain can revive lands, quench thirst, and ease the journey for travelers, all of which are blessings from Allah.
