اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا
O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain.
Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna
When to Read
This supplication is made during times of drought, when the land is parched and crops are wilting. It's a direct plea to Allah for His mercy to bring life-giving rain, especially when the new sprouts and young plants desperately need it to survive and flourish. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would make this dua with great earnestness when the earth was thirsty.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and humility. Raise your hands in supplication as the Prophet ﷺ did when asking Allah for rain. It is recommended to repeat it three times, as shown in the authentic narration. Accompany this dua with sincere repentance and good deeds, for Allah responds to those who turn to Him.
Virtues & Benefits
Seeking rain through this dua is seeking Allah's mercy for the sustenance of life. Rain is a sign of Allah's mercy upon His creation, as the Quran states: 'And it is He who sends down rain from the sky, and We produce thereby growth of all kinds...' (Al-An'am 6:99). This supplication acknowledges our dependence on Allah for our very survival and the survival of our farms and livelihoods. It is an act of seeking divine help and a recognition of Allah's power over the elements.

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'A man entered the mosque on Friday and the Prophet (ﷺ) was delivering the sermon. The man said, "O Messenger of Allah, the property has been destroyed and the roads are impassable, so please ask Allah to give us rain." The Prophet (ﷺ) raised his hands and said: "O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain." An-Nasa'i added: "O Allah, grant us rain from Your heavens and Your earth." The Prophet (ﷺ) then said: "I wish that I had a wooden staff to carry on my shoulder (to help the people in their need)." Then it rained until the next Friday. The man stood up on the next Friday and said, "O Messenger of Allah, the houses have collapsed and the roads are impassable." So the Prophet (ﷺ) raised his hands and said: "O Allah, around us and not on us. O Allah, on the hills and the mountains, on the valleys and the places where plants grow." Then the rain stopped, and they went out walking in the sun.'
