اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا
O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain. O Allah, grant us rain.
Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna
When to Read
This dua is typically recited when the land is dry and in need of rain, or when praying for rain during a drought. It can also be recited during the Istisqa prayer (prayer for rain). The urgency and repetition in the phrasing highlight the need for seeking Allah's immediate help.
How to Read
This is a direct plea to Allah. It's best recited with sincerity, raising hands in supplication as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ often did when asking Allah for something significant. The repetition emphasizes the earnestness of the request. Imagine the dry land, the parched throats, and the yearning for life-giving water as you make this dua.
Virtues & Benefits
Reciting this dua is a direct way to seek Allah's mercy and provision. Rain is a blessing from Allah, bringing life to the earth and sustenance for His creation (Al-A'raf 7:57). By asking for beneficial rain, we acknowledge Allah as the source of all good and rely on Him for our needs. This act of seeking Allah's help during times of need strengthens our Tawakkul (reliance on Allah) and reminds us of His power over all things.

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "While the Prophet (ﷺ) was delivering the Khutbah on Friday, the men and women stood up and said, 'O Allah's Messenger! Ask Allah to provide us with rain.' He said, 'I will ask Allah to provide you with rain.' Then he said, 'O Allah, provide the people with rain, and do not make them destroyers.' He said, 'O Allah, provide the people with rain, safe and widespread, green and fertile, benefiting the land and the people, not destroying it.' He said, 'So Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) raised his hands and we raised our hands with him, and it was not long before the clouds gathered and it rained.'" Sahih al-Bukhari 1014
