اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلاً مُتَقَبَّلاً
O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is beneficial, sustenance that is pure and lawful, and deeds that are accepted.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.
When to Read
This is a powerful dua that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would often recite after the Fajr (dawn) prayer. It's a beautiful way to begin your day, asking Allah for blessings in three fundamental areas of life: knowledge, provision, and actions.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, remembering that Allah is the ultimate provider. It's best recited after completing the obligatory Fajr prayer, facing the Qiblah if possible, and with a present heart, contemplating the meaning of each request.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encompasses seeking beneficial knowledge which leads to understanding the Deen and navigating life's challenges; pure and lawful sustenance which brings barakah (blessings) and contentment; and accepted deeds which are the purpose of our creation. By asking for these three, we are essentially asking Allah to grant us success in this life and the Hereafter, starting with the most crucial prayer of the day.
Source & Authentication
It was narrated from Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet ﷺ said the Salam after praying Subh (morning prayer), he would say: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.' (O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is beneficial, sustenance that is pure and lawful, and deeds that are accepted.)
