Prophetic Duas
Hasan HadithSunan At-Tirmidhi 3233

O Allah, I ask You to enable me to do good deeds, to abandon evil deeds, and to love the poor. I ask You to forgive me and have mercy on me. And if You intend to test people with tribulation, then take me to Yourself without putting me through it.

Allahumma inni as'aluka fi'lal khayrat, wa tarkal munkarat, wa hubbal masakin, wa an taghfir li wa tarhamani, wa idha aradta bin-nasi fitnatan fa tawaffani ilayka ghayra maftun.

Recite this dua with sincere intention and a hopeful heart. Raise your hands as you would in other supplications, facing the Qiblah if possible. Believe in Allah's ability to grant your request and protect you. The essence is to actively seek Allah's help in doing good, avoiding evil, and maintaining your faith even amidst trials.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua offers profound benefits: it seeks Allah's assistance in performing good deeds and abstaining from sin, cultivating a compassionate heart towards the less fortunate, and secures forgiveness and mercy. Crucially, it includes a wise request for a peaceful end before falling into trials and tribulations that could compromise one's faith.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them): The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Supplicate to Allah with the letters of your hands. So whoever says: Allahumma inni as'aluka f'il al-khayrat, wa tark al-munkarat, wa hubb al-masakin, wa an taghfir li wa tarhamani, wa idha aradta bil-nas fitnatan, fa tawaffani ilayka ghayra maftun. (O Allah, I ask You to enable me to do good deeds, to abandon evil deeds, and to love the poor. I ask You to forgive me and have mercy on me. And if You intend to test people with tribulation, then take me to Yourself without putting me through it.)' He said: 'This is a good supplication.'
