O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, and from the punishment of the Hellfire, and from the trials of life and death, and from the evil of the trial of the Dajjal.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'adhab al-qabr, wa min 'adhab an-nar, wa min fitnat al-hayaat wal-mamat, wa min sharri fitnat al-masih ad-dajjal

Virtues & Benefits
This powerful dua encompasses seeking refuge from four significant trials: the torment of the grave (which is a reality for all of us), the torment of the Hellfire (the ultimate consequence of disobedience), the tests and tribulations of this worldly life and the hereafter, and the immense fitnah of the Dajjal. By regularly asking Allah for protection from these, we are actively engaging in seeking His divine shield against hardships that are beyond our own ability to overcome. The Prophet ﷺ himself taught this specific wording, highlighting its importance and comprehensiveness.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'When any one of you finishes the Tashahhud, he should seek refuge in Allah from four things, saying: O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, and from the punishment of Hell, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of the Dajjal, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of life and death.' Then one of you may say whatever he wishes. (Sahih Muslim 589). Another narration in Sahih al-Bukhari (1377) states: 'The Prophet ﷺ used to seek refuge from the punishment of the grave and say: O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave.' He also said: 'When one of you finishes the prayer, let him say: O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of the Dajjal, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of life and death; O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the sin and from debt.'
