Virtues & Benefits

By reciting this dua, we are actively seeking Allah's protection against the negative influences of Shaytan, which can manifest in disturbing dreams. This protection extends to preventing our dreams from leading us astray or causing us fear and anxiety.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet ﷺ said, 'A good dream comes from Allah, and a bad dream comes from Satan. So, if any one of you sees something he dislikes, he should spit to his left three times and seek refuge in Allah from Satan, and it will not harm him.' He added, 'I love to see good dreams and I wish to see what I dislike (in a dream) but am not harmed.' [Sahih Muslim 112] Another narration from Sahih Muslim (112) has the following wording for the dua: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'amalish-shaytan wa sayyi'il-ahlam' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the actions of Satan and from evil dreams).
