Source & Authentication
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Seek refuge in Allah from the punishment of the Hellfire and seek refuge in Allah from the punishment of the grave, and seek refuge in Allah from the trial of the Dajjal, and seek refuge in Allah from the trial of life and death.' Then he said: 'O Allah, indeed I seek refuge in You from the torment of Hellfire, and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of the Dajjal, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of life and death.' He said: 'And I seek refuge in You.' He said: 'O Allah, indeed I seek refuge in You from the evil of my hearing, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of my sight, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of my tongue, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of my heart.' He said: 'O Allah, indeed I seek refuge in You from the evil of what is in my front and from the evil of what is behind me, and from the evil of what is to my right and from the evil of what is to my left, and from the evil of what is above me, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of taking my life suddenly.' He said: 'O Allah, indeed I seek refuge in You from the evil of what is in my soul and from the evil of every moving creature that You seize by its forelock. O Allah, You decree and none can decree against You, and indeed You will not bring me to shame.' He said: 'O Allah, guide me and make me guided, and make me a guide for others. O Allah, grant me the awe of You that will come between me and disobeying You, and the obedience to You that will bring me to Your Paradise, and the firm conviction that will make the afflictions of this world easy for me. O Allah, grant me enjoyment of my hearing, my sight, and my strength as long as You keep me alive, and make it my inheritor. And avenge me against him who has wronged me, and help me against him who has been an enemy to me. O Allah, do not afflict me with hardship in my religion, and do not make this world my greatest concern, nor the ultimate limit of my knowledge, and do not give authority over me to one who does not have mercy on me.' He said: 'Allahumma-nf'ani bima 'allamtani wa 'allimni ma yanfa'uni wa zidni 'ilman.' (O Allah, make beneficial for me that which You have taught me, and teach me that which will benefit me, and increase me in knowledge.)
