O Allah, grant my soul tranquility, and cause me to die as a Muslim, and join me with the righteous, without disgrace or affliction. O Allah, make me firm in the words that are steadfast in this worldly life and in the Hereafter, on the Day when the earth is changed to another earth, and the heavens too, and when they (people) are brought forth to Allah, the One, the Overpowering. O Allah, I ask You by Your knowledge of the unseen and by Your power over creation, keep me alive as long as You know life to be good for me, and cause me to die when You know death to be better for me. I ask You to grant me the good fortune of this world and the good fortune of the Hereafter, and I ask You for the things that procure Your mercy and the means of Your forgiveness, and I ask You for the strength to do good deeds and the resolve to avoid evil deeds, and the will to be grateful for Your blessings, and the good health to worship You. I ask You not to deprive me of the desire for Your bounty, and to be my helper, and to take away from me the need for anything other than You. And if You decree for me a life of hardship, then let me die steadfast in Islam, and keep me from the punishment of the Hellfire, and make me enter Your Paradise.

When to Read
This is a profound supplication that can be recited at any time, especially during the times when du'as are more likely to be answered, such as after the prescribed prayers (Salat), during the night, or when feeling a spiritual need for Allah's closeness. It's particularly fitting to remember this dua when reflecting on the purpose of life and the transition to the Hereafter.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity, a conscious heart, and a firm belief in Allah's ability to respond. Begin by invoking Allah's names and attributes, as the Prophet ﷺ would. Ensure you understand the meaning of each phrase, allowing it to resonate deeply within you. Raise your hands in supplication as you begin and end with praise to Allah and blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ.
Virtues & Benefits
This comprehensive dua encompasses many essential aspects of a Muslim's life. It seeks Allah's pleasure, a tranquil soul, a steadfast faith until death, and companionship with the righteous in the Hereafter. It asks for the best of both worlds, the means to attain Allah's mercy and forgiveness, and the ability to lead a life that is pleasing to Him. Importantly, it aims to cultivate a heart that is content with what Allah provides, independent of others, and ultimately seeks salvation from the Hellfire and entry into Paradise. Such a dua helps in keeping the remembrance of Allah (dhikr) central to one's existence, which is the very essence of a heart alive with faith.
Source & Authentication
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught this comprehensive dua to his companion, Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him). Hudhayfah recited it to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and asked him to teach him a comprehensive supplication. The Prophet (peace be upon him) told him: 'Say: O Allah, grant my soul tranquility, and cause me to die as a Muslim, and join me with the righteous, without disgrace or affliction. And if You decree for me a life of hardship, then let me die steadfast in Islam, and keep me from the punishment of the Hellfire, and make me enter Your Paradise.'
