"O Allah, make my soul tranquil, and make my provision sufficient, and instill in me the awe of You until I meet You. Make my desire for what is with You, and do not let any of Your creation have a share in my desires. Make my needs rest with me, and do not let them be in the hands of any of Your creation. Make my remembrance of You, and make my longing for You, and make the meeting with You the coolness of my eyes. Make Paradise my abode, and join me with the righteous."

When to Read

This is a profound dua that touches on the very essence of a believer's connection with Allah. It's perfect for reciting after your obligatory prayers, during the quiet hours of the night (like Tahajjud), or at any time you feel a need to deepen your awareness of Allah's presence and seek inner peace. It’s particularly fitting when you feel overwhelmed by worldly concerns and want to reorient your heart towards your Creator.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and contemplation. Imagine your heart becoming calm and content, your provisions being blessed, and your fear of Allah filling your being. Focus on the desire for His pleasure and the longing to meet Him. Speak to Allah as if you see Him, even though you do not, knowing that He sees you. Ensure you are in a state of purity if possible, facing the Qiblah, and raising your hands in supplication.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua seeks the most essential elements for a fulfilling life of faith: inner peace (mutma'innah), sufficient provision (rizq qareeran), and a heart truly mindful of Allah (makhafati fi nafsi). It aims to redirect all desires and hopes towards Allah alone, detaching us from reliance on creation. The ultimate goal is to find true joy in remembering Allah, longing for His presence, and anticipating the eternal reward of Jannah with the righteous.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from Fudayl ibn Ghazwan, from a man from Abu an-Nadr, from Malik ibn Sa'sa'ah that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'There are no two servants who supplicate to Allah except that his supplication is answered or He wards off from him something of evil the like of it, or He stores it up for him.' (This general principle applies to all duas, and the following is a specific dua the Prophet ﷺ made.) It was narrated from Abu an-Nadr that Malik ibn Sa'sa'ah said: 'I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: "There is no one who supplicates to Allah, but He answers him. He may answer it by giving him what he asked for, or He may ward off from him something of evil the like of it, or He may store it up for him." I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, should we increase? He said: 'Allah has more." Then he mentioned that he heard the Prophet ﷺ supplicating with this dua: 'O Allah, make my soul tranquil, and make my provision sufficient, and instill in me the awe of You until I meet You. Make my desire for what is with You, and do not let any of Your creation have a share in my desires. Make my needs rest with me, and do not let them be in the hands of any of Your creation. Make my remembrance of You, and make my longing for You, and make the meeting with You the coolness of my eyes. Make Paradise my abode, and join me with the righteous.'
