O Allah, I ask You for Your mercy, do not leave me to myself for even the blink of an eye, and set right all my affairs. There is no god but You.

Allahumma inni as'aluka rahmataka, fala takilni ila nafsi tarfata 'aynin, wa aslih li sha'ni kullahu, la ilaha illa anta.

When to Read

This powerful dua is particularly relevant when facing life's storms, whether they be literal weather events like intense winds and rain, or metaphorical challenges that stir up anxiety and fear within us. It's a supplication for peace when our hearts feel unsettled, a plea for divine support when we feel overwhelmed. Recite it when you feel a sense of unease, worry, or when external circumstances are causing you distress and you need that inner calm that only Allah can provide.

How to Read

Begin with sincere intention, acknowledging your dependence on Allah. Raise your hands (if possible and appropriate) as you begin. Recite the Arabic text with clarity and focus on its meaning. Feel the weight of each phrase: the request for mercy, the plea not to be left to oneself, and the comprehensive request for all affairs to be set right. Conclude by reaffirming your Tawhid (Oneness of Allah) by stating 'La ilaha illa Anta' (There is no god but You).

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates a profound understanding of human frailty and absolute reliance on Allah. By asking for His mercy and not being left to ourselves even for a moment, we acknowledge that true peace and stability come only from Him. It's a recognition that all our affairs, big or small, need His continuous guidance and support to be set right. This reliance fosters inner tranquility, reduces anxiety, and strengthens our connection with our Creator, especially during difficult times.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this comprehensive dua. It was narrated by Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The supplication of the distressed is: Allahumma inni as'aluka rahmataka, fala takilni ila nafsi tarfata 'aynin, wa aslih li sha'ni kullahu, la ilaha illa anta.' (O Allah, I ask You for Your mercy, do not leave me to myself for even the blink of an eye, and set right all my affairs. There is no god but You). (Sunan Abi Dawud 5090, graded Hasan by Al-Albani)
