I seek protection for you with Allah's perfect words, from every devil and every beast, and from every evil eye.
U'īdhuka bikalimātillāhit-tāmmah, min kulli shayṭānin wa hāmmah, wa min kulli 'aynin lāmmah.

This beautiful dua is recited by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ for his grandsons, Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them). It's perfectly suited for reciting over a newborn baby immediately after birth, or at any time during their childhood to seek Allah's protection from various forms of harm, including fear and traits like excessive shyness that might hinder their development.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere intention and full belief in Allah's power to protect. It is recommended to place your hand on the child's forehead or head while reciting. You can repeat it multiple times, blowing gently on the child after each recitation if you wish. Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates seeking refuge in Allah's complete and perfect words, which are a shield against all harm. It specifically mentions protection from devils (shayatin), harmful creatures (hammah), and the evil eye (ayn lammah). For a newborn, this translates to seeking protection from anxieties, undue fears, and even personality traits that stem from negativity or external harm, allowing them to grow with confidence and peace, insha'Allah.
