رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِي ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ
My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [also] from my offspring. Our Lord, and accept [my] supplication.
*Rabbij'alni muqimassalati wa min dhurriyyati Rabbana wa taqabbal du'a'i*
When to Read
This beautiful dua from Surah Ibrahim is perfect for parents as they begin to introduce their children to the Quran. It's ideal to recite it during pregnancy, right after birth, and continuously as you nurture your child's connection with Allah's words. Make it a habit during your daily prayers, especially after Fardh salaah, or at any quiet moment when you feel close to Allah. It's a heartfelt plea for your child's spiritual well-being and their connection to the foundational act of prayer, which is intrinsically linked to the Quran.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a heartfelt intention for your child's guidance. Raise your hands in supplication, as is the etiquette for making dua. Focus on the meaning of the words – asking Allah to make you and your descendants steadfast in prayer and to accept your supplications. Repeating it often reinforces your commitment to raising righteous offspring who will be connected to Allah through prayer and the Quran.
Virtues & Benefits
This verse is a powerful testament to the importance of prayer (Salah) and the hope that our children will follow in our footsteps. By reciting it, we are seeking Allah's help in raising children who will establish prayer – a cornerstone of faith and a direct consequence of understanding and implementing the Quran. It's a dua that encompasses both personal righteousness and the continuation of goodness within our lineage, reflecting the Prophet Ibrahim's (peace be upon him) deep concern for his descendants' connection to Allah.
