O Allah! Guide him and set him on the right path. Remind him, through him, of the Sunnah of Your Prophet, peace be upon him. Grant him, in this regard, that which helps him, and help us in this matter.
Allahumma ihdihi wa saddidhu, wadhkur bihi sunnata nabiyyika sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam, wa qifhu min dhalika ma yu'inuhu, wa a'inna 'ala dhalika.
When to Read
This beautiful dua is for any parent who wishes to see their child grow up with a strong foundation in Islam, particularly in understanding and affirming the absolute Oneness of Allah (Tawhid). It can be recited from pregnancy, during infancy, and throughout childhood as a constant supplication for their guidance. Imagine holding your little one close, whispering this prayer, asking Allah to make their heart and mind receptive to His truth.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and heartfelt conviction. While it's a specific supplication, the essence is asking Allah for guidance and steadfastness for your child. You can raise your hands, as is customary when making dua, and focus on the meaning of the words. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to ask Allah for guidance in all our affairs, and seeking it for our children is among the most noble of intentions.
Virtues & Benefits
This supplication directly asks Allah to guide and direct your child towards the straight path, which is anchored in Tawhid. It also seeks to establish the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ within the child's life, ensuring they learn and follow his teachings. By asking Allah to help you in this endeavor, you acknowledge that raising a child upon Tawhid is a collaborative effort between your efforts and Allah's assistance. It's a prayer that encompasses both the child's spiritual well-being and the parent's role in facilitating it.

From the narration of Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: 'We were with the Prophet, peace be upon him, and he said: 'O Allah! Guide him and set him on the right path. Remind him, through him, of the Sunnah of Your Prophet, peace be upon him. Grant him, in this regard, that which helps him, and help us in this matter.' This hadith was narrated by Imam Ahmad in his Musnad and is considered Hasan due to its supporting chains of narration.
