رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ ذُرِّيَّةً طَيِّبَةً ۖ إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ الدُّعَاءِ
My Lord, grant me from Yourself a good offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of supplication.
Rabbi hab li min ladunka dhurriyyatan tayyibatan innaka samee'ud-du'a.
When to Read
This dua is particularly powerful when recited during times of earnest supplication, such as after obligatory prayers, during the last third of the night, or when making Umrah or Hajj. Couples trying to conceive should make it a regular part of their personal supplications, focusing with sincerity and hope in Allah's plan.
How to Read
Recite this dua with complete sincerity, conviction, and hope in Allah (SWT). Visualize a righteous child and make dua with a heart full of trust in His mercy. It is recommended to raise your hands while making dua, as this is a Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Both husband and wife can recite this, individually or together, ensuring their intention is purely for a righteous offspring that will be a source of joy in this life and the next.
Virtues & Benefits
Reciting this verse is a direct supplication taught by Allah Himself in the Quran to Prophet Zakariya (peace be upon him) when he prayed for a child. It signifies turning directly to the Creator for this profound blessing. The emphasis on 'good offspring' (ذُرِّيَّةً طَيِّبَةً) highlights the importance of seeking not just progeny, but children who are righteous, well-mannered, and a source of good for their parents and the community. It reinforces the understanding that children are a gift from Allah, and their upbringing and character are ultimately in His hands.
