بَارَكَ اللهُ لَكَ فِي المَوْلُودِ، وَشَكَرْتَ الوَاهِبَ، وَبَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُ، وَرُزِقْتَ بِرَّهُ
May Allah bless you in your newborn, may you be thankful to the Giver, may he reach the age of maturity, and may you be granted his righteousness.
Barakallahu laka fil mawloodi, wa shakarta al-wahiba, wa balagha ashuddahu, wa ruziqta birrahu.
When to Read
This is a general dua for a newborn, often recited by a visitor upon hearing of a child's birth or when the parents are first introducing solid foods. It's a prayer for the child's well-being and future righteousness, which is intrinsically linked to their development, including their transition to solid food.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a pure intention for the child's blessings and guidance. It can be recited over the child or simply spoken with a heartfelt supplication. When introducing solids, you can make this intention as you feed the child, asking Allah to grant them the strength and health to benefit from this new stage of nourishment.
Virtues & Benefits
This beautiful dua encompasses several profound blessings for the child and the parents. It asks for Allah's *barakah* (blessing and increase) upon the newborn, encourages gratitude from the parents towards Allah (the true Giver), prays for the child to reach their full physical and mental maturity (*ashuddahu*), and asks for the immense blessing of the child being righteous and a source of comfort and good deeds for the parents (*birrahu*). A child's healthy development, including their ability to digest and benefit from solid foods, is part of Allah's blessing and a step towards them reaching maturity.
