Dua for a Newborn's Peaceful Sleep and Rest

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ وَارْحَمْهُ وَعَافِهِ وَارْزُقْهُ

O Allah, forgive him, have mercy on him, grant him well-being, and provide for him.

Allahummaghfir lahu warhamhu wa 'aafihi warzuqhu

When to Read

This supplication is for a newborn baby, particularly at the time of their first sleep or any sleep thereafter. It's a beautiful way for parents and guardians to invoke blessings upon the child as they begin their journey of life, seeking Allah's protection and provision for them from the very beginning.

How to Read

Gently place your hand on the baby's head or chest, facing the direction of the Qiblah if possible. Recite the dua with sincerity and a calm heart. It's beneficial to have a pure intention of seeking Allah's protection and blessings for the infant.

When a child was brought to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, he would make this supplication for them: 'Allahummaghfir lahu warhamhu wa 'aafihi warzuqhu.' (O Allah, forgive him, have mercy on him, grant him well-being, and provide for him.)
