It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when a child was born, he would be brought to the Prophet (peace be upon him), and he would ask for a name. Then he would say: 'May Allah bless you in your newborn, may the Giver be thanked, may he reach the age of maturity, and may you be granted his righteousness.' (Sunan Ibn Majah, Book 6, Hadith 1807)
