O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is enacted. Your judgment upon me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or that You have taught to any of Your creation, or that You have revealed in Your Book, or that You have kept unto Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen, that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sorrow, and the reliever of my anxieties.
Allahumma inni 'abdak, ibnu 'abdik, ibnu amatik, nasiyatii bi-yadik, madin fiyya hukmuk, 'adlun fiyya qada'uk, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa lak, sammayta bihi nafsak, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqik, aw anzaltahu fi kitabik, aw 'statharta bihi fi 'ilmil-ghaybi 'indak, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jila'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi.

Virtues & Benefits
This comprehensive dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to a companion who was suffering from distress, directly addresses the need for emotional and mental relief. It asks Allah to make the Qur'an a source of life and renewal for the heart, a guiding light for the chest, and a means to remove sorrow and anxiety. This is incredibly relevant for a mother battling postpartum depression, seeking solace and strength through the divine word. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'No one asks with the asking of something better than asking for Paradise, and seeking refuge from the Hellfire is better than nothing.' (Sunan At-Tirmidhi 3506). This dua is a profound way to seek refuge and ask for the greatest provisions: inner peace and a connection to the Divine.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua to Thawban, who was suffering from distress: 'O Thawban, count your blessings, and say: 'Allahumma inni 'abdak, ibnu 'abdik, ibnu amatik, nasiyatii bi-yadik, madin fiyya hukmuk, 'adlun fiyya qada'uk, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa lak, sammayta bihi nafsak, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqik, aw anzaltahu fi kitabik, aw 'statharta bihi fi 'ilmil-ghaybi 'indak, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jila'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi.' (O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is enacted. Your judgment upon me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or that You have taught to any of Your creation, or that You have revealed in Your Book, or that You have kept unto Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen, that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sorrow, and the reliever of my anxieties). Then Thawban said: 'I said that, and Allah removed my distress.'
