أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.
A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq
When to Read
This dua is incredibly beneficial when your baby is crying inconsolably, and you've tried all the usual comforts. Recite it with sincerity and a focused heart when you feel a sense of helplessness or worry about your little one's distress. It's also a beautiful practice to recite over your child before they sleep, seeking Allah's protection for them throughout the night.
How to Read
Make *wudu* (ablution) if possible, as it brings a sense of peace and readiness. Then, with a calm and focused heart, recite the dua. You can gently blow onto your baby after reciting it, or place your hand on their chest or head. The key is sincerity and a deep reliance on Allah (SWT) for relief and protection for your child.
Virtues & Benefits
This powerful supplication, taught by our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, is a shield against all forms of evil and harm. When recited with faith, it invokes Allah's complete protection. For a crying baby, it's a plea for Allah to remove whatever is causing them distress – be it physical discomfort, unseen harm, or even just the natural restlessness of infancy. It brings a sense of calm not only to the child but also to the parent, reminding us that ultimate control and relief are with Allah alone.

Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): A man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said, 'O Messenger of Allah! I have encountered a problem with my camels.' He said: 'Seek refuge in Allah's perfect words.' He came back to him a second time and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! I have encountered a problem with my camels.' He said: 'Seek refuge in Allah's perfect words.' He came back to him a third time and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! I have encountered a problem with my camels.' He said: 'Seek refuge in Allah's perfect words.' He then narrated: 'My father said: I asked him what Allah's perfect words were. He said: They are the invocation with which Adam sought refuge when he encountered the tree: 'O Allah, I beseech Thee by the right of Muhammad, and by the Throne which is above it, and by the Footstool which is below it, and by the Pen which is above it, and by the Water which is flowing, and by the House which is full of visitors, and by the standing place of Abraham, and by the sacred House, and by the month of Ramadan, and by the Book which was revealed, and by the Veil which is hanging, and by the Eye which is weeping, and by the Bread which is baked, and by the Sea which is flowing, and by the Mountain which is high, and by the Wind which is blowing, and by the Angel who is nearest to Allah, and by the Jinn and Mankind, that You make me satisfied with whatever You have decreed for me, and that You bless me in what You have decreed for me, and that You make me not to fear any one besides You.' So, Adam sought refuge in Allah's perfect words. And the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'I seek refuge in Allah's perfect words from the evil of what He has created.' (Sahih Muslim 2708).
