When to Read

This is a powerful dua that Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) made. It's highly recommended for parents to recite this during pregnancy, after a child is born, and consistently throughout their upbringing. You can make this dua anytime, but particularly during times of prayer, after obligatory prayers, or when making supplication for your children.

How to Read

Recite this ayah with sincerity and focus, reflecting on its meaning. Place your hand on your child's forehead or chest while making this supplication, or visualize them as righteous individuals while reciting it. Combine this with other duas for good character and adherence to Islamic principles.

Virtues & Benefits

Reciting this ayah is a direct plea to Allah for righteous children, who will be a source of joy in this life and the hereafter. Having righteous children means they will grow up to be obedient to Allah, kind to their parents, and beneficial to society. It's a foundational dua for establishing a righteous family lineage, following the example of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him).

Dua for a Newborn's Healthy Eyesight and Vision

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the cessation of Your blessings, the change of Your protection, the suddenness of Your vengeance, and all of Your displeasure. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from distress and sorrow, from incapacity and laziness, from cowardice and stinginess, and from the burden of debt and the overpowering of men. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, from cowardice and stinginess, and from the helplessness of old age. And I seek refuge in You from the trials of the grave, and the punishment of the grave, and the trials of the Fire, and the punishment of the Fire, and the evil of the trials of wealth, and the evil of the trials of poverty, and the evil of the trials of the False Messiah (Dajjal). O Allah, cleanse my heart with the water of snow and hail, and purify me from sins as a white garment is purified from dirt, and keep me far from my sins as You have kept far the East and the West. O Allah, forgive me my mistake, and my ignorance, and my extravagance in my affairs, and whatever You know better of me. O Allah, forgive me my jesting and my seriousness, my mistake and my deliberate (sin), and all of that is with me. O Allah, forgive me what I have sent forth and what I have delayed, and what I have concealed and what I have done openly, and whatever You know better of me. You are the One Who sends forth and You are the One Who delays; there is none worthy of worship but You.
