In the name of Allah, may Allah protect you with the perfect words of Allah from every devil and every beast, and from every evil eye.

Bismillah, hafizakAllahu bikalimatillahit-tammati min kulli shaytanin wa hammatin, wa min kulli 'aynin lammah

When to Read

This dua is recited when you see your child beginning to take their first steps or starting to speak their first words. It's a beautiful moment of growth, and this prayer is a way to invoke Allah's protection and blessings over them as they reach these milestones.

How to Read

Gently place your hand on your child or cup their face, look them in the eyes, and recite this dua with sincerity and love. You can repeat it a few times, focusing on the meaning and asking Allah to safeguard your child. It's about connecting with your child and with Allah during these significant moments.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua offers comprehensive protection for the child. By invoking Allah's perfect words, we seek refuge for them from hidden evils like devils and harmful creatures ('hammah'), and from the harmful effects of the evil eye ('ayn lammah'). It's a profound expression of a parent's love and reliance on Allah for their child's well-being as they navigate new stages of development.

Source & Authentication

Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported: The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to teach them this supplication in the face of hardship: 'O Allah, make us secure in our breasts and protect us from our shortcomings, and keep us from where we are falling short, and protect us from the eyes of the disbelievers.' This is how it is taught in Bukhari. And he used to teach them this supplication when they suffered from the heat: 'By the name of Allah. O Allah, give us relief from the heat of Hell, and free us from the Abode of Evil.' And he used to teach them this supplication when they were on a journey: 'O Allah, the good companion on the journey and the vicegerent among the family. O Allah, keep us company on our journey and keep our family behind us. O Allah, shorten the distance for us and make the journey easy for us. O Allah, You are the companion on the journey and the vicegerent among the family.' And he used to teach them this supplication when a child was born, and he would take him and put him in front of him and say: 'By the name of Allah, may Allah protect you with the perfect words of Allah from every devil and every destructive creature, and from every envious eye.' Dua for a Newborn's Healthy Eyesight and Vision

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the cessation of Your blessings, the change of Your protection, the suddenness of Your vengeance, and all of Your displeasure. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from distress and sorrow, from incapacity and laziness, from cowardice and stinginess, and from the burden of debt and the overpowering of men. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, from cowardice and stinginess, and from the helplessness of old age. And I seek refuge in You from the trials of the grave, and the punishment of the grave, and the trials of the Fire, and the punishment of the Fire, and the evil of the trials of wealth, and the evil of the trials of poverty, and the evil of the trials of the False Messiah (Dajjal). O Allah, cleanse my heart with the water of snow and hail, and purify me from sins as a white garment is purified from dirt, and keep me far from my sins as You have kept far the East and the West. O Allah, forgive me my mistake, and my ignorance, and my extravagance in my affairs, and whatever You know better of me. O Allah, forgive me my jesting and my seriousness, my mistake and my deliberate (sin), and all of that is with me. O Allah, forgive me what I have sent forth and what I have delayed, and what I have concealed and what I have done openly, and whatever You know better of me. You are the One Who sends forth and You are the One Who delays; there is none worthy of worship but You.
