Dua for Strength When Facing Hidden Struggles

Patience & Sabr
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 904

O Allah, I ask You for steadfastness in all matters, and for the resolve to follow the right path. I ask You to enable me to be grateful for Your favors and to worship You in the best way. I ask You for a sound heart and a truthful tongue. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what You know, and I ask You for the good of what You know, and I seek Your forgiveness for what You know. Indeed, You are the Knower of all unseen matters.

Allahumma inni as'alukal-thabat fil-amr, wal-'azeemata 'alar-rushd, wa as'aluka shukra ni'matika, wa husna 'ibadatika, wa as'aluka qalban saleeman, wa lisaanan saadiqan, wa a'udhu bika min sharri ma ta'lam, wa as'aluka min khairi ma ta'lam, wa astaghfiruka mimma ta'lam. Innaka anta 'allamul-ghuyoob.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated that Abdullah bin ‘Amr said: A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: "O Messenger of Allah, tell me about what is best for me to ask for." He said: "Ask Allah for 'Afw (safety/forgiveness) and Al-'Afiyah (well-being/safety from harm) in this world and the hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for 'Afw and Al-'Afiyah in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my private parts and make me feel secure from fear. O Allah, guard me from before me and from behind me, from my right and from my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge in Your might from being assassinated from beneath me." Abdullah said: "And he (the Prophet ﷺ) said: 'And I ask You for greatness to be with You.'" And it was narrated to me by Yunus, from Ibn Wahb, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "No one has asked for anything like seeking refuge in something like seeking refuge in Allah." And it was narrated to me by Ishaq bin Mansur, from Mu'ammal bin Al-Hasan, from Hammad bin Salamah, from 'Amr bin Yahya, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The most beloved of people to Allah are those who are the most beneficial to them, and the most beloved of deeds to Allah are the happiest of them in the heart of a Muslim, or the removal of one of his hardships, or the payment of one of his debts, or the warding off of hunger from him. And I would rather walk with my brother in need, than to go into the markets and spend it on [something else]. And whoever controls his anger, Allah will conceal his private parts, and whoever controls his rage, Allah will protect him from His punishment, and whoever controls his self, Allah will accept his excuse." And it was narrated to me by Muhammad bin Yahya, from Muhammad bin Al-Asamm, from Jarir, from Abu Yahya, from Al-A'mas, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Allah, the Mighty and Most High, says: 'I am as My servant thinks I am, and I am with him when he remembers Me. If he remembers Me in himself, I remember him in Myself. And if he remembers Me in a company, I remember him in a company better than them. And if he draws near to Me by a hand span, I draw near to him by a cubit. And if he draws near to Me by a cubit, I draw near to him by a mile. And if he comes to Me walking, I come to him running.'" And it was narrated to me by Abu Al-Ash'ath Al-Warraq, from Mu'ammal, from Hammad, from 'Amr bin Yahya, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When one of you supplicates, he should be firm in his supplication and say: 'O Allah, if You wish, give me.' For there is no one to compel Him.
