The Dua of the Distressed: Seeking Allah's Help in Uncertainty

Patience & Sabr
Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 5090

O Allah, it is Your mercy that I hope for. So do not leave me to myself for even the blink of an eye, and set all my affairs right for me. There is no god but You.

Allahumma rahmataka arju, fala takilni ila nafsi tarfata 'ayn, wa aslih li sha'ni kullahu, la ilaha illa Anta.

Source & Authentication

The narrator said: I said: O Messenger of Allah, teach me a comprehensive supplication. He said: Say: O Allah, I ask You for health, and the good life, and the completion of the good life, and steadfastness in the command, and I ask You for the resolve to be rightly guided, and I ask You for the reason for Your mercy, and the resolve to attain Your forgiveness, and I ask You for the good ending, and I ask You for the excellence of Your Paradise, and I ask You for the things that cause Your countenance to be sought. O Allah, I ask You for guidance, and piety, and chastity, and contentment with what You have decreed. And I seek refuge in You from the injustice of what You have decreed, and from the evil of what You have decreed, and from the evil of what is in them, and from the evil of what is in the earth, and from the evil of what is in the heavens, and from the evil of what comes down, and from the evil of what ascends, and from the evil of our outward journeys, and from the evil of our journeys home, and from the evil of every animal; indeed You have power over all things. And then the narrator said: Allahumma rahmataka arju, fala takilni ila nafsi tarfata 'ayn, wa aslih li sha'ni kullahu, la ilaha illa Anta. (O Allah, it is Your mercy that I hope for. So do not leave me to myself for even the blink of an eye, and set all my affairs right for me. There is no god but You.)
