Patience & Sabr
Hasan HadithSunan An-Nasa'i 1304

O Allah, I ask You for patience in the face of Your trials, a good life after death, the delight of looking at Your Face, and the longing to meet You. O Allah, protect me from Your punishment on the Day You resurrect Your servants.

Allahumma inni as'aluka sabran 'ala bala'ika wa husnu 'ayshin ba'da mawtika wa ladhdhata nazrika ila wajhika wash-shawqa ila liqa'ika. Allahumma aminni min 'adhabika yawma tab'athu 'ibadaka.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication encapsulates a profound request for spiritual fortitude and ultimate success. It asks for patience, a crucial virtue in Islam, especially when facing prolonged adversity. The desire for 'a good life after death' and 'the delight of looking at Your Face' highlights the Muslim's focus on the Hereafter. By asking for protection from Allah's punishment, the dua seeks comprehensive well-being, both in this life and the next. It trains the heart to find solace not in the cessation of trials, but in the closeness to Allah, regardless of circumstances.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Mughaffal that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'O people, offer prayer in your houses, for the best prayer for a man is what is prayed in his house, except for the obligatory prayer. O Allah, I ask You for patience in the face of Your trials, a good life after death, the delight of looking at Your Face, and the longing to meet You. O Allah, protect me from Your punishment on the Day You resurrect Your servants.' (Sunan An-Nasa'i 1304. Graded Hasan by Darussalam.)
