Dua for Steadfastness and Strength in the Face of Trials

Patience & Sabr
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2671

يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ

O Turner of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion.

*Ya muqallibal-qulubi, thabbit qalbi 'ala dinik*

When to Read

This is a profound dua to recite regularly, especially during times of personal struggle, doubt, or when facing spiritual challenges that test your faith and resolve. It's particularly relevant when you feel your conviction wavering or when external pressures try to pull you away from your Deen. Making this a habit ensures your heart remains anchored in Allah's guidance.

How to Read

Recite this supplication with sincerity and a deep sense of reliance on Allah (SWT). Focus on the meaning of the words: acknowledging that Allah is the one who controls the hearts and asking Him to keep yours steadfast. It's best to say it with your hands raised, as was the practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ when making earnest dua. Try to make it a part of your daily supplications, perhaps after your obligatory prayers.

Virtues & Benefits

The primary benefit of this dua is seeking Allah's help in maintaining strong Imaan (faith). In the spiritual sense, 'warfare' can refer to the internal battles against our own lower selves (nafs) and the external whispers of Shaytan. This dua directly addresses the core of our being – the heart – asking Allah to keep it firm on the path of Islam, even when tested. It's a recognition of our need for Allah's constant support to remain righteous and unwavering. By asking for steadfastness, we pray for the strength to resist temptation, overcome difficulties with grace, and remain devoted to our Creator.

Source & Authentication

‘Abdullah (b. Mas’ud) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) often used to supplicate: ‘O Allah, O Turner of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion. He said: I did not find a prayer which he uttered more frequently than this: ‘O Allah, O Turner of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion and upon Your obedience.’
