O Allah, I ask You for steadfastness in all matters, and firmness on the right path, and I ask You to enable me to be grateful for Your blessings and to worship You in the best way. I ask You for a sound heart and a truthful tongue. I ask You for the good You know, and I seek refuge in You from the evil I know. I seek Your forgiveness for what I know. Indeed, You are the Knower of all unseen.

Sunan At-Tirmidhi 3243: Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them): I said: O Messenger of Allah, teach me something. He said: O Ibn Abbas, maintain your obedience to Allah and your piety, and you will find Allah in front of you. Know Allah in prosperity, He will know you in adversity. Know that what you have missed was not going to happen, and what has happened was not going to be missed. Know that victory comes with patience, and relief comes with distress, and that hardship leads to ease. The Prophet (peace be upon him) then said: O Allah, help him to be firm, O Allah, guide him to the right path, and O Allah, make him fear You as if he is seeing You, and make him miserable in his desire for this world, and make him long for the reward of the Hereafter. He said: O Allah, assist me with the truth, and make me content with what Allah has decreed. He said: O Allah, after I have prayed, teach me the words, and he said: Allahumma inni as'alukath-thabata fil-amr, wal-'azeemata 'alar-rushd, wa as'aluka shukra ni'matik, wa husna 'ibadatik, wa as'aluka qalban saleeman, wa lisaanan saadiqan, wa as'aluka min khayri ma ta'lam, wa a'udhu bika min sharri ma a'lam, wa astaghfiruka lima a'lam, innaka anta 'allamul-ghuyoob.
