Dua for Steadfastness and Inner Strength Amidst Scrutiny

Patience & Sabr
Hasan HadithSunan At-Tirmidhi 3497

O Allah, I ask You for steadfastness in all matters, and determination in pursuing righteousness. I ask You for the ability to be grateful for Your blessings and to worship You in the best way. I ask You for a sound heart and a truthful tongue. I ask You for the good that You know, and I seek refuge in You from the evil that I know. I ask Your forgiveness for what I know (my sins). Verily, You are the Knower of all hidden things.

Allahumma inni as'alukath-thabaata fil-amri, wal-'azeemata 'alar-rushdi, wa as'aluka shukra ni'matika, wa husna 'ibaadatika, wa as'aluka qalban saleeman, wa lisaanan saadiqan, wa as'aluka min khairi ma ta'lamu, wa a'udhu bika min sharri ma a'lamu, wa astaghfiruka lima a'lamu, innaka anta 'allaamul-ghuyoobi.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive supplication encapsulates a believer's profound need for Allah's assistance. Asking for 'steadfastness in all matters' (الثَّبَاتَ فِي الأَمْرِ) directly addresses the need to remain firm when facing external pressures or confusion. 'Determination in pursuing righteousness' (الْعَزِيمَةَ عَلَى الرُّشْدِ) empowers us to keep doing what is right, even when it's unpopular. The request for a 'sound heart' (قَلْبًا سَلِيمًا) is crucial, as it protects against the inner turmoil that public scrutiny can ignite, fostering resilience. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua, highlighting its immense value in seeking the best of both worlds and protection from the worst.

Source & Authentication

When the Prophet ﷺ would teach a group of people, he would face them and say: O people, be steadfast! (i.e., remain upright). He taught them this dua: O Allah, I ask You for steadfastness in all matters, and determination in pursuing righteousness.
