โœฆ

Our Lord, pour upon us patience and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people.

Rabbana afrigh 'alayna sabraw-wa thabbit aqdamana wansurna 'alal-qawmil-kafirin

When to Read

This powerful supplication from the Quran is particularly relevant when you feel overwhelmed by your own perceived failures or sins. It's when you're struggling to control desires, overcome bad habits, or simply feeling disheartened by your spiritual state. Reciting it can be a source of strength when you're facing inner battles and feel your resolve weakening.

How to Read

Recite this ayah with sincere intention and a heartfelt plea to Allah. Understand that 'patience' here isn't passive resignation, but the strength to persevere, to keep trying, and to remain steadfast in your efforts towards self-improvement and obedience to Allah, even when faced with your own weaknesses. Ask Allah to make your feet firm on the path of righteousness, so you don't stumble or fall back into old patterns. The request for victory over disbelievers can also be understood as victory over the whispers of Shaytan and the inner 'kuffr' (disbelief or ingratitude) that might lead you to despair.

Virtues & Benefits

This ayah, recited in the context of facing personal shortcomings, offers immense spiritual benefit. It directly asks Allah for sabr (patience), which is a cornerstone of faith, enabling us to endure trials and strive against our own lower selves. It seeks steadfastness, preventing us from faltering in our journey. By asking for victory, we are invoking Allah's help not just externally, but internally, against the forces that pull us away from Him. It reminds us that no matter how deep our struggles, Allah's support is available through sincere dua.
