O Living One, O Sustainer, by Your mercy I seek help. Rectify for me all of my affairs and do not entrust me to myself for the blink of an eye.

Virtues & Benefits
This powerful dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to his beloved daughter Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), addresses the core of feeling overwhelmed: reliance on Allah and seeking His help in all matters. The names 'Al-Hayy' (The Ever-Living) and 'Al-Qayyum' (The Self-Sustaining) emphasize Allah's eternal power and His complete management of creation. Seeking His mercy ('bi rahmatika') acknowledges our need for His grace. The request 'aslih li sha'ni kullahu' (rectify for me all of my affairs) is comprehensive, encompassing every aspect of life. Finally, 'wa la takilni ila nafsi tarfata 'ayn' (and do not entrust me to myself for the blink of an eye) is a profound plea for constant divine guidance and protection, recognizing our own limitations.
Source & Authentication
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said to Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her): 'What prevents you from that which I hear you asking? You should say: O Allah, O Most Merciful, O Master of the heavens and the earth, O Lord of everything and its Revealer, I ask You for protection against the evil of my soul and the evil of the devil, and the ability to gather anything good, and protection from all evil.' He then said to her: 'Say: O Living One, O Sustainer, by Your mercy I seek help. Rectify for me all of my affairs and do not entrust me to myself for the blink of an eye.' (Sunan al-Tirmidhi 3551)
