إِنَّا لِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ، اللَّهُمَّ أْجُرْنِي فِي مُصِيبَتِي وَأَخْلِفْنِي خَيْرًا مِنْهَا
Verily we belong to Allah, and verily to Him do we return. O Allah, reward me in this calamity and compensate me with something better than it.

Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying: 'There is no Muslim who is afflicted by a calamity and remembers it as Allah has commanded him to, but Allah will grant him that which is better than it.' Then she recited: 'Verily we belong to Allah, and verily to Him do we return. O Allah, reward me in this calamity and compensate me with something better than it.' Umm Salamah said: 'So I said that to Allah and Allah compensated me with a better thing than it. I met the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and informed him of that, and he said: 'Ameen'.
