Virtues & Benefits

This dua is fundamental for spiritual stability. By asking Allah to keep our hearts firm on His religion, we are seeking protection from being swayed by worldly disappointments or desires. A heart anchored in faith is better equipped to face the trials of life, including career setbacks, with patience (sabr) and reliance on Allah (tawakkul). It helps us maintain perspective, remembering that our true success lies in our deen, not solely in our worldly accomplishments. This spiritual strength provides the inner fortitude needed to endure periods of stagnation and to continue striving with hope.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to recite: 'O Turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm on Your religion.' He said: 'We asked him: 'O Messenger of Allah, we believe in what you have been sent with, and in the Book that you have been sent with. We have the desire that our hearts should be firm. Should we not fear when Allah has turned the hearts as He wishes?' He said: 'No, rather your hearts are in the hands of Allah, and He turns them as He wishes. When the 'Arsh was created, it said: 'I am a created being, and there are amongst the created beings those who fear me, and those who do not.' Allah said to it: 'You are honored.' And the heart said: 'I am the heart of a Muslim, and I am the heart of a believer, and I am the heart of a servant who is a Muslim, and I am the heart of a servant who is a believer.' It said: 'O Allah, grant me increased reverence for You.' It was narrated from Thabit that Anas said: 'The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'No one of you is a believer until I am more beloved to him than his father, his child and all the people.'
