Patience & Sabr
Hasan HadithSunan Ibn Majah 925

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا.

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and deeds accepted.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.

When to Read

This dua is particularly potent when you feel overwhelmed by your responsibilities, whether they are personal, professional, or religious. Recite it at the start of your day to set an intention for resilience, or whenever you face a daunting task or a period of intense commitment. It's a request for divine support to not just *do* the work, but to do it well and for it to be meaningful.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and focus. It's best recited after the obligatory prayers or in the morning. Imagine the qualities you are asking for: knowledge that benefits yourself and others, provision that is pure and lawful, and actions that are accepted by Allah. Raising your hands slightly can be a gesture of supplication, but the most important aspect is the presence of your heart.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive dua asks for three essential elements for fulfilling commitments with excellence and seeking Allah's pleasure. 1. **Beneficial Knowledge ('Ilman Naafi'an):** This isn't just about academic learning, but knowledge that leads to righteous action and keeps us grounded. It helps us understand our duties and how to best fulfill them. 2. **Goodly Provision (Rizqan Tayyiban):** This includes lawful earnings that sustain us, but also encompasses blessings in our time, health, and resources, all of which are crucial for carrying out our commitments effectively. 3. **Accepted Deeds ('Amalan Mutaqabbalan):** This is the ultimate goal – that our efforts in fulfilling our responsibilities are recognized and accepted by Allah. This acceptance brings true satisfaction and reward, making perseverance worthwhile. This dua is a powerful tool for fostering sabr (patience) and istiqamah (steadfastness) because it addresses the foundational needs required to endure and succeed in our endeavors.
