Patience & Sabr
Hasan HadithSunan At-Tirmidhi 3493

O Allah, I ask You for steadfastness in all matters, and firmness in pursuing righteousness. I ask You to enable me to be grateful for Your favors and to worship You in the best way. I ask You for a sound heart and a truthful tongue. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what You know, and I ask You for the good of what You know. I seek Your forgiveness for what You know. Indeed, You are the Knower of the unseen.

Allahumma inni as'alukath-thabata fil-amri, wal-'azeemata 'alar-rushdi, wa as'aluka shukra ni'matika, wa husna 'ibadatika, wa as'aluka qalban saleeman, wa lisaanan saadiqan, wa a'udhu bika min sharri ma ta'lamu, wa as'aluka min khairi ma ta'lamu, wa astaghfiruka mimma ta'lamu, innaka anta 'allamul-ghuyoob.

It also seeks protection from hidden evils and asks for all good, acknowledging Allah's complete knowledge of the unseen, which is crucial when facing dilemmas where the consequences are not fully apparent.

Source & Authentication

Al-Hasan Al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a man said: 'O Messenger of Allah! What is salvation?' He said: 'Fear Allah, O man, and be steadfast. And do not be a man who plays with his religion, for he does not know when he will be tested.' Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught them this dua: 'Allahumma inni as'alukath-thabata fil-amri, wal-'azeemata 'alar-rushdi, wa as'aluka shukra ni'matika, wa husna 'ibadatika, wa as'aluka qalban saleeman, wa lisaanan saadiqan, wa a'udhu bika min sharri ma ta'lamu, wa as'aluka min khairi ma ta'lamu, wa astaghfiruka mimma ta'lamu, innaka anta 'allamul-ghuyoob.'
