اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلاً مُتَقَبَّلاً.
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and acceptable deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.
When to Read
This dua is particularly potent when you're embarking on a new chapter in life – be it starting a new job, moving to a new city, beginning a new educational pursuit, or entering a new phase of your personal life. It's ideal to recite this at the dawn of your new endeavor, perhaps after Fajr prayer, or at any moment you feel the weight of the unknown and the need for divine guidance and strength.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere intention and a humble heart. Ensure you are in a state of purity (wudu). Raise your hands slightly, as one would during supplication. Focus on the meaning of each phrase, asking Allah sincerely for these three essential aspects: knowledge that benefits you and others, provision that is pure and lawful, and deeds that are accepted by Him. Consistency is key; make it a habit during this transitional period.
Virtues & Benefits
This powerful supplication, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, encapsulates three cornerstones of a successful and fulfilling life in Islam. Seeking 'beneficial knowledge' ('ilman nafi'an) equips you to navigate the challenges of your new phase wisely and to make decisions that please Allah. Asking for 'good provision' (rizqan tayyiban) ensures that whatever sustenance you receive is pure and blessed, supporting you and your family ethically. Finally, requesting 'acceptable deeds' ('amalan mutaqabbalan) is the ultimate goal – that your efforts in this new phase are recognized and rewarded by Allah, bringing you true success in this life and the next. This dua fosters a mindset of reliance on Allah while actively seeking the tools for success through knowledge, sustenance, and righteous action.

Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say when he said the morning prayer: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.' (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and acceptable deeds). And when he concluded the prayer with the salutation, he would say these words.
