O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your Hand. Your judgment upon me is inevitable. Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every Name that You have called Yourself, or revealed to any of Your creation, or sent down in Your Book, or kept with You in the knowledge of the unseen, that You make the Qur'an the delight of my heart, and the light of my chest, and a remover of my grief, and a banisher of my worry.
Allahumma inni 'abdika, ibnu 'abdika, ibnu amatik, nasiyati biyadika, madin fiyya hukkumuka, 'adlun fiyya qada'uka, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa lak, sammayta bihi nafsaka, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, aw anzaltahu fi kitābika, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilm il-ghaybi 'indaka, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jila'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi.

It reminds us that our ultimate strength and direction come from our Creator, especially when facing the inevitable trials of life, including career challenges.

Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'No person ever suffered from grief or distress and then recited the following dua, but Allah Almighty would remove his grief and distress and replace it with joy.' He was asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, should we learn these words?' He replied: 'Yes, of course, everyone who hears them should learn them.'
