Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ narrated about the companions when they faced the polytheists on the day of Badr. A group of them said: 'O Allah, we place You at their throats and we seek refuge in You from their evils.' And another group said: 'O Allah, we have no strength except in You, so repel them from us towards You.' Then the Prophet ﷺ said: 'O Allah, strike them with the same affliction with which they afflicted you.' So they were struck with seventy thousand men. (Sahih Abu Dawud 1537).
