Our Lord, descend upon us a table from the heaven, which will be for us a festival for the first of us and the last of us and a sign from You. And provide for us, for You are the best of providers.
Allahumma Rabbana anzil 'alayna ma'idatan minas-sama'i takunu lana 'eedan li'awwalina wa akhirina wa ayatan minka, warzuqna wa anta khayrur-raziqin
When to Read
Recite this dua when you receive feedback or criticism, especially if it feels difficult to hear or accept. It's also beneficial to recite it *before* seeking feedback, to prepare your heart and mind to receive it with grace and seek Allah's help in understanding and benefiting from it.
How to Read
Recite with sincerity, focusing on the meaning of seeking Allah's provision and guidance. Understand that 'provision' here encompasses not just sustenance, but also the ability to discern truth, accept beneficial advice, and grow from experiences. It's a request for divine help in processing information and making it a source of spiritual and personal elevation.
Virtues & Benefits
This verse, revealed in the context of the disciples of Isa ('alayhis-salam) asking for a miraculous meal, is a powerful supplication for divine provision and signs. When we adapt it for receiving criticism, we're asking Allah to provide us with the 'table' of understanding, the 'festival' of shared growth (benefiting us now and for those who follow), and the 'sign' of His grace in helping us accept and learn. It helps shift our perspective from defensiveness to seeking Allah's blessings in all situations, including moments of feedback, making it a tool for spiritual purification and development.
