O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the suffering. Heal, for You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing, a healing that leaves no illness behind.
Allahumma Rabbin-nas, adh-hibil-ba's, ishfi Antash-Shafi, la shifaa'a illa shifaa'uka, shifaa'an la yughadiru saqaman.
When to Read
This powerful dua can be recited whenever one experiences pain or discomfort, especially chronic or lingering pain common in old age. It's particularly beneficial to recite it when the pain intensifies, seeking direct relief from Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala). It can be recited multiple times a day, with sincerity and firm belief in Allah's ability to heal.
How to Read
Place your hand on the part of your body that is aching. Recite the dua with conviction, focusing on Allah's names and attributes, particularly 'Ar-Rahman' (The Most Gracious) and 'Ash-Shafi' (The Healer). Breathe deeply and exhale with the intention of releasing the pain with Allah's help. It is also recommended to make dua for others who are suffering, as this often brings greater acceptance to one's own supplications.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a direct supplication to Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) for healing. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) himself taught this dua and recited it for the sick. It embodies the core Islamic belief in Tawhid (Oneness of Allah) by attributing healing solely to Him. Reciting it fosters patience and reliance on Allah during times of hardship, turning a physical ailment into an opportunity for spiritual growth and immense reward for patience.
