When to Read
This beautiful dua is recited in the morning, after Fajr prayer, before engaging with the day's activities. It's a powerful way to start your day by seeking Allah's blessings in the core aspects of your life: your understanding, your provision, and your actions.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, directing your full attention to Allah. It's often recommended to say it three times in the morning. Picture yourself asking a loving, all-powerful Lord for these essential provisions for your life and afterlife.
Virtues & Benefits
By seeking beneficial knowledge, you ask Allah to open your mind to wisdom and understanding that will benefit you in this life and the next. Asking for pure sustenance (rizqan tayyiban) means seeking lawful and good provisions, free from any impurity or suspicion, which brings barakah (blessings). Finally, requesting accepted deeds ('amalan mutaqabbalan) is a plea that your efforts in worship and good works are recognized and rewarded by Allah.
Source & Authentication
It was narrated from Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said the morning prayer, when he had finished, he would say: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.' (O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is beneficial, sustenance that is pure, and deeds that are accepted.)
