The Morning Dua for Allah's Pleasure and Approval

Morning Adhkar
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 7:55

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provision, and accepted deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

This dua is specifically recommended to be recited upon waking up in the morning, before starting the day's activities. It's a powerful way to set your intentions and seek divine guidance and acceptance for whatever you undertake.

How to Read

Recite this dua sincerely after you wake up. Raise your hands if you can, and focus on the meaning, asking Allah with conviction. It's an excellent addition to your morning remembrance (adhkar), following the Prophet's ﷺ sunnah of beginning the day with supplication and seeking good.

Virtues & Benefits

By asking for beneficial knowledge, you seek wisdom that leads to righteous action. Asking for pure provision (tayyiban) means seeking sustenance that is lawful and blessed. The most crucial part is asking for accepted deeds ('amalan mutaqabbalan), as even our best efforts are only valuable if Allah accepts them from us. This dua encapsulates a holistic request for success in this life and the Hereafter, aligning our actions with Allah's pleasure.

Source & Authentication

Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) taught us four phrases to say in the morning and in the evening: 'O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in my religion and my worldly affairs. O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and self-sufficiency. O Allah, I ask You for a beneficial knowledge, a pure provision, and accepted deeds.' He (peace be upon him) said: 'If you say these in the morning, you have fulfilled the thanks of your day, and if you say them in the evening, you have fulfilled the thanks of your night.'
