اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا.
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provision, and deeds that are accepted.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.
When to Read
This dua is specifically recommended to be recited immediately after the Fajr (dawn) prayer. It's a powerful way to start your day, seeking Allah's guidance and strength for the challenges ahead, including resisting temptations that might arise.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction after completing the obligatory Fajr prayer. It is best recited while still seated in your prayer place, facing the Qiblah, and with a clear intention to implement the requests you make of Allah. Reflect on the meaning of each part: seeking knowledge that benefits, sustenance that is pure, and actions that are accepted.
Virtues & Benefits
This comprehensive dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, equips us to face the day with spiritual fortitude. Seeking 'beneficial knowledge' helps us discern right from wrong. Asking for 'pure provision' ensures our sustenance is lawful, which in turn makes our prayers more likely to be answered. Most importantly, requesting 'accepted deeds' is a plea for Allah to be pleased with our efforts, which inherently includes the strength to turn away from sin and temptation. The Prophet ﷺ would say this upon finishing his prayer. (Sahih Muslim 7:61)
